Sending sweets & food items overseas: what to know.

🍬GIFTING GUIDES

Sharing food is the ultimate Indian expression of affection. Whether it's home-ground spices, Diwali mithai, or specialized regional snacks, we understand the sentiment. Sending food abroad requires careful attention to packaging and regulations to ensure it stays edible and passes customs.

Three Rules for Food Shipments

  • Shelf Life: Ensure all items have a shelf life of at least 30+ days from the shipment date. Fresh, wet sweets like rasmalai are not eligible for shipping.
  • Packaging: Pack items in vacuum-sealed packaging or clean, food-grade plastic containers. Mark containers clearly with the name of the food item.
  • Quantities: Keep food volumes within reasonable personal limits (usually under 5kg total) to avoid customs classifying the shipment as commercial import.
